Should You Choose Powder Or Liquid Foundation?

June 02, 2022
POWDER FOUNDATION

Powder foundation is made from pigments and minerals and is a completely dry formulation. If you have oily, normal, combination, sensitive or acne-prone skin, powder foundations are your best friend for touching up on the go.

Liquid foundations are the most popular formulations. If you have normal or dry skin, liquid foundation is perfect for you. The base of this product is often water or a water-silicone mixture, which helps provide a streak-free finish. The other main ingredient is pigment, which evens out your skin tone.

THE TYPE OF FORMULA

The main difference between a liquid foundation and a powder foundation is the type of formula. Liquid foundations have a thin formula that can be water or silicone-based. Powder-based foundations are made with talc, which is a form of powder.

In general, powder foundation gives the skin a lightweight and sheer to medium coverage. It can provide full coverage with several layers which gives the skin a cakey appearance.

A liquid formulation is much easier to build coverage with liquid than it is with powder. You can always sheer out liquid foundations if you want lighter coverage.

If you like a breathable and natural coverage, go for a powder foundation. If you want a medium to full coverage, use a liquid foundation.
